Founded in 1864, the Colombo Rowing Club (CRC) stands as the premier boat club in Sri Lanka. Nestled on the edge of the northern Beira Lake at Sir Chittapalam A. Gardiner Mawatha (formerly Parsons Road) in Colombo, the CRC boasts a rich history and a proud legacy in the world of rowing.
As one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious and active private member clubs, the Colombo Rowing Club has continually evolved, maintaining a strong emphasis on both competitive rowing and vibrant social interaction. Our members not only engage in the sport but also enjoy a community of fellowship and camaraderie.
The CRC is recognized as the cradle of rowing in Sri Lanka. Many of the affiliated clubs under the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka, the governing body for rowing in the country, owe their origins to the facilities and infrastructure established by the Colombo Rowing Club.

The Colombo Rowing Club (CRC) hosts over 10 prestigious institutions, including top schools and universities, and has a proud tradition of rowing excellence. Our teams compete regionally and internationally, with a key event being the historic Madras-Colombo Regatta—the longest-running international regatta between two countries—embodying the spirit of camaraderie and competition at CRC.
